At first :

SOMA RIBA was born in the suburb of Bordeaux (France). He is a « child of the night ». DJ at 15 yo, animating student parties, he quickly became DJ and A&R of famous clubs in Bordeaux : the Soft Club, the Lollapallooza, the Caesar, where he learnt to appreciate and use any music style.

He became then co-owner of one of the biggest club complexes in France: THE MEGA MACUMBA.

His references :

He has been educated from the sport, considering each show as a contest, and people’s entertainment as the price. He was practising football as a goalkeeper and boxing (58 fights). The winning spirit was the gift given by the sport, on the field during the day, and in the clubs during the night. His education has also been important. His parents teached him the values of hard work.

His path :

Soma Riba became a known name in the clubbing area by doing more than 600 gigs all around the country, releasing several single records, and organising the biggest professional events (4000 people) where he appears on stage as an artist. He has made his own relational spider web, grabbing around him the people who really can make the difference.

After 2 years doing compilations (6 of them charted in the Top Sales), he decided to make his own LP: YAKA DANSE (All you need is Dance). The first single has been charted in the French Sales during 11 weeks!

This album is a mix of covers and original creations, recorded at STUDIO CONDORCET in Toulouse (France), produced by Frederic Crépin aka DJ Fred, featuring DJ FOU, Lady WOOPY, Emile Wandelmer, Jean Louis & Mario from IMAGES and a lot of other major artists.

The 3 follow-ups will be all charted in the Top Sales: FEMME LIBEREE, LES DEMONS DE MINUIT, VACANCES J’OUBLIE TOUT !

For SOMA RIBA, singing was at first a simple hobby, but it quickly became more than a passion : a profession. Soma Riba’s influences are RAGGA, RAGGA ZOUK, ZOUK, ZOUK LOVE, R&B,…

Soma Riba is back in 2007 with a brand new Gypsie-Zouk single : « ON N’EST PAS FATIGUE » (we ain’t no tired) a party anthem which is an original song, and a new album which will be out in June. He is planning to release a DVD of all his videos and a Best Of.

On stage :

Soma Riba is a Showman, stage is what he likes most. The crowd gives him adrenalin, just like before a Boxing fight. Live performance is the real goal and the accomplishment of all the work done in the studio.

Soma Riba is preparing his Tour which will begin in May 2007.
